Hello!

My name is Millie Woods. I am a 23 year old photographer based in north London. I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a Second class degree in photography in September 2022.

I have been doing photography from the age of 14, it was my creative outlet to escape school. I have never been very academic and never been able to draw without a guide so I turned to using an iPhone 5 to take pictures of the sky and people around me. This then led to me doing a media course in college. This was when I started to learn how to use a DSLR camera. A key influence and the reason I started photography was my uncle, Lawrence Slater. He was in my eyes the best photographer ever! He was my biggest supporter starting my career and let me play around with a digital camera. I can’t remember a time where he didn’t have a camera in his hand.

Going forward, I have been lucky enough to have my project ‘What a Drag!’ featured in the University of hertfordshire exhibition 22 Runway and the truman brewery show freerange show and on the online magazine source and the freerange website:

Since 2020 when the pandemic hit, I had no options to go out and shoot with models and needed something to do for my university projects. So I turned to doing self portraits. I created two projects ‘Bodies’ which was expressing the changes of my body through lockdown and ‘Clownin’ Around’ which was about expressing myself though make-up and illustrations.

Since finishing university, I have been working on my events and music photography work and have been lucky enough to photography bands such as Toploader and Pulled apart by horses. Among some amazing up and coming bands such as Silvercain, Sundale avenue and Michy Tree.

Thanks for reading and I hope you get in touch soon :)
